Interview Degrassi Nation

What a beautiful time of the year it is in Degrassi Nation. The grass is getting greener, the lakes are warmer and Season 10 is just a month away! So much is going on right now in the world of Degrassi: Former cast member, Drake, debuted his album last Tuesday, shooting for Season 10 is getting more intense and Degrassi Takes Manhattan will be coming up on us faster than Degrassi’s season 4 gonorrea outbreak .

With all that is going on right now, it was a priviledge to get a few words from one of the most compelling new characters in season 10, Jordan Todosey. Todosey, an Ontario native has her acting resume full, with shows such as Flashpoint, Instant Star and Life with Derek, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

A lot of people think the acting life is a lot more glamorous than it actually is. I know for me I just love doing it, and it’s part of who I am!

Jordan will be playing a character, (Adam) who will most likely be transgender. In the promo we see her more content when in mens clothing rather than in female attire, so I just put it out there and asked if she can confirm “Adam” as being transgender and she wrote this: *Not confirming or denying that Adam is transgender*. She does add “I’m falling in love with the character, and truly enjoying portraying him.” So she will be playing a guy, we can confirm that with her last quote but has no bearing on the transgender issue.

I really hope season 10 won’t be the last, and I think once you see how good season 10 is, you’ll see it more as a new beginning!

Here are some Twitter questions that I asked you to participate in last week:
@the_lexcy Convince her in2 writing a tell-all about the degrassi cast and set conditions?
A: Life on degrassi set is usually work filled, if not with filming then tutoring. Surprisingly the cast members all somehow get along! If not filming or in school we’re often goofing around throughout the studio or in cast rooms. The studio itself is really nicely set up with a cast lounge area (pool table included –which we somehow haven’t completely destroyed yet) and internet where we often download the latest youtube craze.

@terisforpeace my question – are there any difficulties in playing a transgender character with her own personal beliefs?
A: Whenever I play a character, I try and set aside or separate my own beliefs from the beliefs that my character may have. If I don’t then I can’t truly become the character. I love how people from all different places and beliefs have a story to tell, and it is up to the viewer to take what he/she wants from it.

@mollyomigosh Did you feel uncomfortable at all during the filming of your scenes?
A: There are some small discomforts (can’t say YET what those may be, in fear of giving away too much) but for the most part it’s been a blast!

@mollyomigosh Did you know when you were auditioning that that was the part they were considering you for?
A: Yes although the character has morphed and developed in an unforeseen way.

@crystaldark Were you pretty comfortable auditioning/taping w/ the Degrassi cast– Since you’ve worked with some of them before?
A: Joining any established cast can be slightly intimidating, however it almost seemed effortless the way we slid into action and everybody was so welcoming. We’re all so supportive of eachother!

@mollyomigosh What are her favorite bands, quotes, TV Shows, charities, celebrities, clothing lines, websites and why?
Wow, that sure is a lot! But in my limited time, I’ll tell you some! @mollyomigosh Is she worried that she may, whether she likes it or not, become a sort of ambassador for gender issues?
A: Gender issues? Are you sure? Who said Adam has gender issues?

@mollyomigosh What is her favorite part about working on Degrassi?
A: My favorite part of working on degrassi is getting to act out another fun character, and also hang out with some really fun cast mates!

@mollyomigosh Has she had any experiences with transgendered people? Met, talked to, been friends with… etc.
A: No I’ve never personally met a transgender.

FACT: Jordan Todosey is 4′ 10¼” (1.48 m)

As I’ve said, I can’t officially confirm or deny Adam is transgendered, but I will say I fell in love with this character as I hope you all do!

Call times vary but are usually very early in the morning for me, because I also have school to cram in.
All film shoots are pretty standard, some being filmed in a studio, others being filmed on location. Both Degrassi and Life With Derek were both shot in a studio for the most part.

What is so secretive that not even the Degrassi cast knows about? This one is kind of funny, I will admit.
hmm…one thing i do that degrassi cast doesn’t know aboutt? Well, i write my own music, sing, and play piano haha, not too many people know that What the cast also doesn’t know…is that i have a secret stash of ‘Banana Baby food’ for those late night cravings hehe!

Nice…baby food?? I will keep that in mind when “Adam” and Jordan Todosey debut July 19th on Much Music and Teen Nick!
