Sweet and talented Melinda Shankar plays Alli Bhandari on Degrassi: The Next Generation. In honor of the new season, which premieres TONIGHT at 9 p.m. on TeenNick, Melinda sat down with Seventeen to chat about her favorite outfits, her shoe obsession, and her favorite beauty products.

17: What's your favorite brand of jeans?

Melinda Shankar: Diesel. They're one of the few brands that fit me.

17: What color do you like to paint your nails?

MS: Hot pink.

17: What do you wear on dates?

MS: It depends on what you're doing for the date. If you're going to the zoo, you wouldn't necessarily wear a skirt. It depends on your style, actually. But, I never wear anything too revealing.

17: What's your favorite celebrity hairstyle?

MS: I've always wanted a bob like Posh. I've never been given the option to do anything cool with my hair because when I was younger I was in ballet, so I always had to have it long enough to put it in a tight ballerina bun. And for modeling and acting they've always liked it longer for versatility, so I've never been able to do anything crazy or fun. So if I ever got the chance it'd be in a bob, like the Rihanna bob, actually.

17: How many shoes do you own?

MS: I could not count, because I have my room in Ottawa which still has so many, and then I have my room in Toronto where I live now, which has so many more. My sister and I have the same size feet. It's good and bad, because sometimes you want to wear them and she has them. I would say we own 200 pairs together. It's bad. I have a problem!

17: If you could just have 3 beauty products for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

MS: I would have lipstick for sure, and probably mascara and liquid liner.

17: How would you describe your style in one word?

MS: Unique.

17: When do you feel most beautiful?

MS: After I buy a really nice outfit. I have this thing where whenever I buy a few things, I'm constantly just thinking of what I can mix and match it with. So then when I go home I instantly spend an hour just putting it together with a whole bunch of things to see what I can do with it. And then I do my makeup and hair at home and put the outfits on just to see what they look like. And I think that that's cool because I get to be like a designer.
